An Ode to No One silk draped dress, Marc Jacobs ’Sahara’ maryjanes, LV ‘Brea’ MM, Sheike ‘Golden Eye’ belt

So this post has been seven months in the making. I actually gave it a lot of thought before deciding to come back here. I wondered what this meant and whether having and continuing with this was still ‘me’.

People have these platforms for different reasons and mine have changed over time. When I first started blogging, I was looking for a form of escape. Work at the time was uninspiring and the thing from which I derived the most joy, besides awesome human relationships, was just as the banner suggests – the merriment of pretty things. More specifically, pretty things to wear. I poured much thought into the content, blissfully ignoring the fact that everyone just looks at the photos anyway. For a long time, blogging consumed hours, weekends, credit cards and I was happy that it did.

Now I find myself at different point in life, which hopefully doesn’t get read as old and boring. I’ve got a new-ish job (again) that I love and am living in an exciting (read: friction’ awesome) part of the world. And yet, the more involved and invested I get to the ‘real world’, history has shown, the more distance I seem to gravitate away from the virtual.

Life has changed and it’s been an such a many splendoured thing. After much consideration, instead of using this blog as a platform for escapism, I’d like to use it to mirror the now – as you see it. It’s not just about the weekends of pretty dresses, crazy shoes and gallivanting around town (although these photos are all of the above). It’s about the everyday and how a young lawyer like myself finds colour and pizzaz in the quotidien.

Bien.
